Europe, News No Comments on Netherlands Army orders 41 light tactical vehicles for special forces

The Dutch defense ministry has awarded the defense manufacturer Defenture a contract for the delivery of 41 Vector light tactical vehicles to the Royal Netherlands Army’s 11 Airmobile Brigade.

The Versatile Expeditionary Commando Tactical Off-Road (VECTOR) 4×4 vehicles are scheduled to be delivered from mid-2023 to mid-2024. The Dutch Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced on December 19 that the vehicles could be employed in support of special forces, whose ground-enabling task is the responsibility of the 11 Airmobile Brigade.

“The signing of the contract is a momentous event for both the Dutch Armed Forces and Defenture. The Dutch Commando Corps and the Airborne Mobile Brigade often operate together, making interoperability of vital importance” the Netherlands-based defense company Defenture said.

The defense firm added that “This contract also implies a reduction of operational costs, making the use of Defenture vehicles greatly improve the Armed Forces’ effectivity and efficiency.”

Defenture develops unique light tactical vehicles and has been the leading specialist in the development and assembly of light tactical vehicles for 10 years. Defenture’s CEO Henk van der Scheer said that the company has invested in the “creation of a new benchmark in the light tactical market segment“ and that with its platforms Defenture “guarantees that the troops that protect us carry out their missions in safety and can return from the most extreme circumstances.”

The light tactical vehicles are capable of performing multiple mission roles including mobility for personnel and payloads, providing added protection while maintaining load-carrying capacity. These vehicles are designed to support mobility, payload, and survivability to ensure tactical transport to and from the battlefield.

With a weight of five tons and a payload of two tons, the battlefield-proven platform is certified air-transportable inside a CH-47F Chinook. The platform is interchangeable and highly modular configurable and offers integrated and modular ballistic protection. The optional 4-wheel steering allows extreme maneuverability, small turning circles, and speedy action in tight spaces.
