Ankara (Turkey) – Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif arrived in Turkey on a three-day official visit on Monday.

The Army chief was presented guard of honor at Turkish Land Forces Headquarters.

The Army Chief was awarded Legend of Merit Award for his services for regional peace and for taking courageous steps against terrorism.

Gen. Raheel Sharif expressed heartfelt condolences on Ankara terrorist blast and said Pakistan understands the enormity of challenges facing Turkey and stands by it.

He visited Land Force Headquarters and met his Turkish counterpart and discussed matters of defense cooperation.  The army chief also discussed enhanced cooperation in the field of counterterrorism with his Turkish counterpart.

Speaking on the occasion, General Raheel Sharif said the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey are time tested and everlasting.

“Pakistan and Turkey are facing daunting challenges. I am sure we will surmount them with a common and coherent approach,” said Sharif. “We assure you our unflinching support.”
