{"id":9453,"date":"2022-05-01T04:43:05","date_gmt":"2022-05-01T02:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/?p=9453"},"modified":"2022-05-01T04:43:07","modified_gmt":"2022-05-01T02:43:07","slug":"us-navy-to-modernize-its-next-generation-guided-missile-destroyer-uss-zumwalt-ddg-1000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/us-navy-to-modernize-its-next-generation-guided-missile-destroyer-uss-zumwalt-ddg-1000\/","title":{"rendered":"US Navy to modernize its next-generation guided-missile destroyer USS Zumwalt DDG 1000"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The United States Navy has awarded a $483 million contract to Raytheon Missiles &amp; Defense for DDG 1000 Class Combat System activation, sustainment, and modernization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the contract, Raytheon Missiles &amp; Defense will provide the U.S. Navy services and professionals to complete the activation and fleet introduction of the three Zumwalt-class destroyers, while continuing to develop technology and warfare capabilities, Raytheon Technologies&#8217; press release read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the U.S. Department of Defense statement, the contract includes DDG 1000 Class Combat System \u201cactivation, sustainment and modernization support for Mission Systems and Total Ship Computing Environment infrastructure hardware\/equipment\u201d, as well as \u201cnon-recurring engineering services supporting combat system installation, integration, development, testing, correction, maintenance, and modernization of Zumwalt-class Mission Systems and Mission System equipment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis contract includes options, which if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $1.68 billion,\u201d the Department of Defense release highlighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work will be performed in Tewksbury, Massachusetts (37%); Portsmouth, Rhode Island (37%); San Diego, California (22%); Nashua, New Hampshire (2%); Pascagoula, Mississippi (1%); and Fort Wayne, Indiana (1%), and is expected to be completed by April 2023.
