{"id":9022,"date":"2022-03-23T17:16:44","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T15:16:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/?p=9022"},"modified":"2022-03-23T17:17:04","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T15:17:04","slug":"us-president-heads-to-europe-to-discuss-tougher-sanctions-on-russia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/us-president-heads-to-europe-to-discuss-tougher-sanctions-on-russia\/","title":{"rendered":"US president heads to Europe to discuss tougher sanctions on Russia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>U.S. President Joseph Biden departs for Belgium and Poland to coordinate with Western partners on the next phase of economic, humanitarian, and military assistance to Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biden\u2019s visit aims to reaffirm the U.S. global leadership, strengthen the NATO alliance, and reassure Ukraine that the United States remains committed to supporting its allies as Russia intensifies its attack on Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Biden will attend an emergency NATO summit, meet with G7 leaders and address the EU leaders at the European Council session on March 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the U.S. president\u2019s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Biden \u201cwill have the opportunity to coordinate on the next phase of military assistance to Ukraine. He will join our partners in imposing further sanctions on Russia and tightening the existing sanctions to crack down on evasion and to ensure robust enforcement,&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. president will fly to Warsaw on March 25 to meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda and will \u201cengage with U.S. troops who are now helping to defend NATO territory\u201d, and. \u201cmeet with experts involved in the humanitarian response\u201d, Sullivan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biden administration is working on plans to impose new sanctions on Russia and will discuss new measures with the European partners to tighten sanctions on Moscow, according to the U.S. officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. and European partners are expected to announce even more aggressive economic sanctions against Moscow during the summits in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Biden-NATO-Summit-2021.jpeg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Biden-NATO-Summit-2021.jpeg?resize=830%2C446&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9024\" width=\"830\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Biden-NATO-Summit-2021.jpeg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Biden-NATO-Summit-2021.jpeg?resize=300%2C161&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Biden-NATO-Summit-2021.jpeg?resize=768%2C413&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 830px) 100vw, 830px\" \/><\/a><figcaption><em><sup>U.S. President Joe Biden speaks during a news conference at the NATO summit at NATO headquarters in Brussels, on June 14, 2021.
