Indian Navy’s indigenously developed Visakhapatnam-class also known as P-15 Bravo-class stealth guided-missile destroyer test-fired a variant of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile on January 11.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The successful launch of the extended-range BrahMos cruise missile was announced by the Indian Navy on its official Twitter account. The Indian navy emphasized the dual achievement of the test: certifying the accuracy of the ship’s combat system and armament complex and validating a new capability of the missile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Advanced sea to sea variant of BrahMos Supersonic Cruise missile was tested from INS Visakhapatnam today. Missile hit the designated target ship precisely,” DRDO posted on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the team for their accomplishment on his Twitter message: \u201cThe robustness of the Indian Navy mission readiness is reconfirmed today after the successful launch of the advanced version of BrahMos Missile from INS Vishakhapatnam today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The naval variant of the BrahMos cruise missile was earlier tested by the Indian Navy\u2019s indigenously developed destroyer INS Chennai in October 2020, and Rajput-class destroyer INS Ranvijay in December 2020. The sea variant of the extended-range BrahMos missile is expected to serve as the backbone of the Indian Navy\u2019s firepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian Navy received the first of its four indigenously developed Visakhapatnam-class vessels also known as P-15B or P-15 Bravo-Class Destroyer on November 21, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The destroyer has a speed of 30 knots (56 km\/h), 7,400 MMS with an average speed of 14 knots, and an endurance of 45 days. The vessel\u2019s detachable include, rail-less Helicopter Hanger for two Medium-Sized Helicopters and four RIHB Rigid Inflatable Boats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
