Bolivian President Evo Morales accuses United States for current drop in oil prices, and claims that the U.S. is aiming to undermine the economies of large petroleum producers Russia and Venezuela.<\/p>\n

Morales said that it\u2019s was \u201ca pity\u201d<\/em> that Washington remains on a \u201cwrong course\u201d<\/em> by continuing to use sanctions against its political rivals.<\/p>\n

He further stated that, \u201c[the US thinks] we are living 200, 300 or 500 years ago, instead of today. But all the past should remain in the past. The US should realize this.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

America is acting like other large empires did for centuries as they \u201cdisseminated strife and hatred inside and outside, wishing to establish political control over other nations and to plunder them economically,\u201d<\/em> Morales said, in an apparent reference to the Spanish conquistadors\u2019 invasions of Latin America.<\/p>\n

The Bolivian president also slammed Europe for being \u201cUS accomplices\u201d<\/em> in implementing sanctions worldwide.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must think of a way to liberate Europe, and just think that they used to be invaders of our countries,\u201d<\/em>he said.<\/p>\n

Morales said that President Obama \u201cshould stop imposing sanctions\u201d<\/em> and pay more attention to America\u2019s internal problems, such as \u201cabolishing capital punishment, or to think of new laws to combat racial discrimination.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He urged Moscow and Caracas to \u201cjoin their efforts\u201d<\/em> in countering Washington\u2019s \u201caggressive policies,\u201d <\/em>and\u00a0<\/em>described the US president a \u201cdiscriminated Afro-American\u201d<\/em> who himself is \u201cdiscriminating against migrants.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, now that America can\u2019t overthrow a president by a violent military coup, it starts to view the option of economic sanctions. I am sure that the oil prices plunge was provoked by the US to undermine the Russian and Venezuelan economies. This is my opinion,\u201d<\/em> Morales said.<\/p>\n

\"Oil-US\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Morales said that current oil prices, which have reached their lowest since 2009, are the result of \u201ctemporary difficulties.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am sure the US aggression related to oil price cuts will not last long. Is $60 per barrel a feasible price? Washington is not interested in this. All the US is interested in is an economic assault on some countries to overthrow their presidents. But they will not succeed in this task,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n

The oil price has fallen from $100 per barrel in June to $60 per barrel in December, due to a drop in global demand and increased oil production in the US.<\/p>\n

Many observers believe that low oil prices and Western sanctions imposed on Moscow over its union with Crimea and alleged involvement in the Ukrainian crisis have delivered a painful blow to Russia\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

A decline in confidence in the country\u2019s economy prompted investors to sell off Russian assets, which in turn saw the ruble plunging over 40 percent against the dollar since the start of the year.<\/p>\n
