{"id":6454,"date":"2020-05-18T13:11:33","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T13:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5917.temp.domains\/~iriacom\/\/news\/?p=6454"},"modified":"2020-05-20T16:54:49","modified_gmt":"2020-05-20T16:54:49","slug":"boeing-gets-3-1-billion-cruise-missile-contract-for-saudi-arabia-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/boeing-gets-3-1-billion-cruise-missile-contract-for-saudi-arabia-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Boeing gets $3.1 billion cruise missile contracts for Saudi Arabia, others"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Boeing awarded\u00a0deals to deliver more than 1,000 missiles to Saudi Arabia and others<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Boeing has been awarded $3.1 billion contracts by the U.S. Navy for Harpoon and Standoff Land Attack Missile Expanded Response (SLAM-ER) weapon systems for foreign partners, including Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>The <span style=\"color: #a80000;\"><a style=\"color: #a80000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/Newsroom\/Contracts\/Contract\/Article\/2185990\/\" target=\"_blank\">first contract<\/a><\/span>, worth $1.9 billion deal, is for the modernization as well as production and delivery of 650 SLAM-ERs to Saudi Arabia through the Pentagon&#8217;s Foreign Military Sales Program. It is designed to provide standoff precision strike against fixed, high-value land targets. This GPS-guided air-to-surface missile has a range of up to 155 nautical miles (approximately 180 miles, 290 kilometers). It is capable of attacking both land and sea targets.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Harpoon Block II Anti-Ship Missile<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Harpoon Block II is the world\u2019s most successful anti-ship missile capable of executing both land-strike and anti-ship missions. The missile uses GPS-aided inertial navigation to hit a designated target.
