{"id":644,"date":"2015-01-15T10:50:35","date_gmt":"2015-01-15T10:50:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5917.temp.domains\/~iriacom\/\/news\/?p=644"},"modified":"2015-01-15T10:50:35","modified_gmt":"2015-01-15T10:50:35","slug":"farc-rebel-group-kills-eight-colombian-soldiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/farc-rebel-group-kills-eight-colombian-soldiers\/","title":{"rendered":"FARC rebel group kills eight Colombian soldiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The FARC rebel group says it has killed eight army soldiers in a \u201cdefensive response\u201d to the recent attacks carried out by the Colombian army.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a result of the defensive response, we lament that eight military personnel lost their lives, unnecessarily,&#8221; read the statement issued by the guerrilla group on Wednesday, adding, &#8220;These are all casualties that could have been avoided if the government had been less small-minded.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, the FARC forces killed the soldiers in retaliation for the Colombian army\u2019s mortar attacks on rebels\u2019 positions in the central province of Meta earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>The rebel group called on the government to put an end to its \u201csenseless\u201d offensives, \u201cbecause they could provoke the end of the unilateral ceasefire and disturb the climate of confidence that should prevail at the negotiating table.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Back on December 20, 2014, the FARC declared a unilateral ceasefire in an alleged attempt to boost the peace talks that have been held in Cuba since two years ago.
