{"id":6400,"date":"2020-04-25T08:23:20","date_gmt":"2020-04-25T08:23:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5917.temp.domains\/~iriacom\/\/news\/?p=6400"},"modified":"2020-05-13T16:36:51","modified_gmt":"2020-05-13T16:36:51","slug":"australia-joins-u-s-navy-for-south-china-sea-patrol-as-tensions-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/australia-joins-u-s-navy-for-south-china-sea-patrol-as-tensions-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia joins US Navy for South China Sea patrol as tensions rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tensions in the South China Sea rise again amid COVID-19<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Military tensions resurfaced in the South China Sea, where Royal Australian Navy and US Navy recently conducted exercises as part of navigation and routine maritime security patrols.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Parramatta (FFG 154) began sailing with Ticonderoga Class guided missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill (CG 52) then later with amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) and Arleigh-Burke Class guided missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG 52) on 18 April.<\/p>\n<p>The combined operations started with force integration training and maneuvering exercises between Parramatta and Bunker Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Rear Adm. Cmdr Jacob \u201cShaky\u201d Norgaard.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise\u00a0offered both navies the opportunity to integrate all warfare areas, and further strengthen the bond shared by the U.S. and Australia navies.<\/p>\n<p>Thee show of force comes at a significant time when concerns about China&#8217;s increased activity in the region were reported.
