{"id":5772,"date":"2018-08-29T07:45:34","date_gmt":"2018-08-29T07:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5917.temp.domains\/~iriacom\/\/news\/?p=5772"},"modified":"2018-08-29T07:45:34","modified_gmt":"2018-08-29T07:45:34","slug":"myanmar-military-leaders-must-face-charges-for-rohingya-genocide-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/myanmar-military-leaders-must-face-charges-for-rohingya-genocide-un\/","title":{"rendered":"Myanmar military leaders must face charges for Rohingya genocide: UN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Myanmar rejects UN report accusing its military of genocide and other atrocities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The United Nations issued a new report about violence against the Rohingyas in Myanmar, saying the country&#8217;s top military generals should be investigated for genocide.\u00a0Myanmar, however, rejected the report.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking \u201cwith a heavy heart\u201d one day after the release ofreport, UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, called for those behind the Rohingya crisis to be held accountable, urging the security council to act on what has become \u201cone of the world\u2019s worst humanitarian and human rights crises\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The UN report, released on Monday,accused Myanmar\u2019s military of carrying out mass killings and gang rapes with \u201cgenocidal intent\u201d.
