{"id":5714,"date":"2018-06-28T19:09:05","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T19:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5917.temp.domains\/~iriacom\/\/news\/?p=5714"},"modified":"2018-06-30T19:48:17","modified_gmt":"2018-06-30T19:48:17","slug":"boeing-awarded-1-5-billion-contract-for-super-hornet-fighters-for-kuwait","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/boeing-awarded-1-5-billion-contract-for-super-hornet-fighters-for-kuwait\/","title":{"rendered":"Boeing awarded $1.5 billion contract for Super Hornet fighters for Kuwait"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Boeing awarded $1.5 billion contract for Kuwait F-18 production<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Boeing has been awarded a $1.5 billion contract by the U.S. Navy for the production and delivery of 22 F\/A-18E and six F\/A-18F Super Hornets for Kuwait.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Boeing Co., St. Louis, Missouri, is awarded a $1,504,995,240 fixed-price-incentive-firm contract that provides for the production and delivery of 22 F\/A-18E and six F\/A-18F Super Hornets in support of the government of Kuwait,\u201d according to\u00a0<span style=\"color: #a80000;\"><a style=\"color: #a80000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/News\/Contracts\/Contract-View\/Article\/1561988\/source\/GovDelivery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release<\/a><\/span>\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>The new planes are set to replace Kuwait\u2019s aging F-18 fleet purchased after the first Gulf War. In 2016,\u00a0Kuwait news agency\u00a0<span style=\"color: #a80000;\"><a style=\"color: #a80000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-boeing-kuwait-jets-idUSKBN13N1FC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Major General Lafi al-Azmi, chief of the Armament and Procurement Authority, as saying that a number of the outdated fighter jets would be returned.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u00a0was also awarded\u00a0a $1.165 billion contract in April to provide engineering services, along with radar warning receivers and aircraft armament equipment, for production of the aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Work will be performed primarily in El Segundo, California, and in multiple other cities across the United States and Canada. It is expected to be completed in January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The F-18 Super Hornet is\u00a0a twin-engine, multirole fighter capable of carrying air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles.
