More than 13000 people killed by gun violence in the US this year<\/strong><\/p>\n

At least 13,203 people have died from gun violence in the U.S. this year alone, according\u00a0to\u00a0Gun Violence Archive<\/a><\/span> (GVA).<\/p>\n

This number is far more than those perished due to terrorism, drunken driving and HIV\/AIDS, all of which have triggered national concern and government action.<\/p>\n

According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, a total of 307 mass shooting incidents have occurred as of Nov. 5, 2016 with 13,149 fatalities so far.<\/p>\n

The most recent shooting in a Texas church in\u00a0in Sutherland Springs which killed 26 people is a stark reminder of America’s gun problem which continues to\u00a0be neglected by the lawmakers.<\/p>\n

The Texas shooting comes just over a month after a gunman in Las Vegas killed 58 people<\/a><\/span> and wounded hundreds at an outdoor concert. Las Vegas shooting 2017 was the deadliest attack in modern U.S. history which rekindled a years-long national debate over whether easy access to weapons was contributing to the trend of mass shootings.<\/p>\n

With the latest Texas shooting, America’s gun violence has made global headlines, sending waves of panic and urging U.S. to revise its gun laws.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s Xinhua ran\u00a0an analysis piece<\/a><\/span>\u00a0on how \u201cTexas mass shooting shows American gun culture\u2019s tragic results\u201d, highlighting that \u201cIn 2013, 33,169 deaths came from guns in America \u2014 compared with 4,000 in all of Europe \u2014 with an overall population twice the size of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

In UK’s The Guardian, Richard Wolffe made a strong point<\/a><\/span> with this beginning: \u201cAnother year, another church. Another month, another mass killing. Another day, another political shrug about gun massacres across the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Australia\u2019s ABC news, in its article How assault rifles have played a prominent role in US mass shootings<\/span><\/a>, covered the shooting with an eye on where Trump was at the time of the shooting, in the Japanese capital of Tokyo. \u201cJapan\u2019s strict rules around gun ownership offer a contrast to the Unites States. In 2014,\u00a0Japan<\/a>\u00a0had just six gun deaths, compared to more than 33,000 in America,\u201d the piece said.<\/p>\n

Australia made strict guns laws after a 1996 mass shooting in Port Arthur, Tasmania, when a shooter killed 35 people. There have been no mass shootings there since.<\/p>\n
