Russia test fires ballistic missile Satan 2 that could wipe out entire countries<\/strong><\/p>\n

Russia has carried out a successful test of its Satan 2 nuclear missile on Thursday night,\u00a0according to the Kremlin<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The 100-tonne weapons – which could enter service as early as 2019 – could wipe out a\u00a0whole country\u00a0with a single strike.<\/p>\n

Russian President Vladimir Putin personally conducted the launch of four ballistic missiles as part of a training exercise of Russia\u2019s nuclear forces, according to\u00a0AP<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe commander in chief conducted the launch of four intercontinental ballistic missiles,\u201d Putin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, adding that the training exercise was not connected with any international events.<\/p>\n

The drills were conducted on Thursday when the country\u2019s forces saw the launching of intercontinental ballistic missile RS-28 Sarmat or the deadly Satan 2, which was fired from the Plestek Cosmodrome, in Russia\u2019s north and travelled 3,600 miles before hitting a target on the Kura test range.<\/p>\n

Three submarines capable of carrying nuclear warheads also carried out successful ballistic missile tests, while three bombers hit ground targets with cruise missiles.<\/p>\n

The weapon is said to be capable of carrying 12 nuclear warheads and could wipe out a whole country with a single strike.<\/p>\n

The Kremlin further said President Vladimir Putin was present there and himself test-launched the ballistic missiles.<\/p>\n

Russia has \u201ccarried out an exercise to manage its strategic forces,\u201d the defence ministry statement said. \u201cAll objectives of the training have been successfully completed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The drills took place amid heightened international tensions after North Korea conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test last month. Russia shares a border with North Korea.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
