The Foreign Secretary then went on to say \u201cconfidently\u201d<\/em> that the events were \u201cclearly motivated<\/em>\u201d by events in the Middle East.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we can currently see happening \u2013 the conflict between Western values and destructive \u2018values\u2019 of the Islamic State,\u201d<\/em> said Hammond.<\/p>\n TASS also reports that Hammond said the attack in France is a reminder that similar incidents could take place anywhere, and that the effects of the war against ISIS in Iraq and Syria are spreading throughout the world.<\/p>\n \u201cWe support the people of France, we will fight terrorism wherever it manifests itself and will give a response to the threat to our values, our way of life and standard of life,<\/em>\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Tuomioja added that the tragedy showed \u201cterrorism has no borders<\/em>\u201d and \u201cnobody is protected from it.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe must all now strengthen our readiness to repel terrorist attacks, until we have more information,\u201d<\/em> he stated.<\/p>\n When questioned about the speech, a Foreign Office spokesperson said Hammond had not made an official comment on the Paris shootings, and said the only comment he has made was in a tweet sent on Wednesday, in which he expressed his sadness at the attack.<\/p>\n Also Read:\u00a012 killed, dozens injured in Paris terror attack<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n French media sources have claimed one of the attackers shouted, \u201ctell the media we are Al-Qaida\u201d<\/em> as they attacked the building, suggesting they do not have links to IS.<\/p>\n No terrorist group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack.<\/p>\n
