{"id":4891,"date":"2017-03-09T10:42:34","date_gmt":"2017-03-09T10:42:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5917.temp.domains\/~iriacom\/\/news\/?p=4891"},"modified":"2017-03-09T10:42:34","modified_gmt":"2017-03-09T10:42:34","slug":"death-toll-from-afghan-military-hospital-attack-rises-to-49","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/death-toll-from-afghan-military-hospital-attack-rises-to-49\/","title":{"rendered":"Death toll from Afghan military hospital attack rises to 49"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Gunmen dressed as doctors kill dozens at Kabul military hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The death toll from an attack on a military hospital in Kabul by gunmen dressed as medics has risen to 49 with dozens wounded, a senior health official said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Salim Rassouli, director of Kabul hospitals, said 49 people had been killed in the attack on the Sardar Mohammad Khan military hospital on Wednesday, with at least 63 wounded.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The extremist group Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack in which gunmen dressed as health workers shot doctors, patients, and visitors at the 400-bed hospital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Afghanistan&#8217;s largest military hospital, Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan is located close to the heavily fortified U.S. Embassy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It took Afghan special forces several hours to neutralize the attackers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Ashraf Ghani said the attack at the 400-bed hospital &#8220;trampled all human values&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;In all religions, a hospital is regarded as an immune site and attacking it is attacking the whole of Afghanistan,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The attack began at 09:00 local time (04:30 GMT).
