The drills will continue through October 3, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exercises include the Interaction-2026 command-and-staff exercise, the Poisk-2026 special reconnaissance exercise, and the Echelon-2026 logistics support exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opening ceremony was attended by CSTO Joint Staff Chief Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov, CSTO Deputy Secretary General Mirlan Turgunbekov, commanders of participating military contingents and other officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cToday, the main training event of the year begins on Russian territory: the Interaction-2026 joint command-and-staff exercise, as well as the Poisk-2026 and Echelon-2026 specialized exercises,\u201d Serdyukov said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main Interaction-2026 exercise focuses on preparing and conducting a joint operation by the CSTO\u2019s Collective Rapid Reaction Forces (CRRF) to localize and contain a simulated armed conflict along a border.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"800\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">CSTO forces from Kazahkstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan take part in joint EXERCISES in Russia \u2014 Chief of Staff Serdyukov ADRESSES the troops <br><br>He notes the &#39;experience of modern conflicts&#39; will be taken into account as the &#39;combat potential&#39; of the CSTO is HONED <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ncWUwcASNO\">pic.twitter.com\/ncWUwcASNO<\/a><\/p>&mdash; RTRussia (@RT_Russia_) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RT_Russia_\/status\/2104158812189896826?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 27, 2026<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Poisk-2026 is focused on reconnaissance activities in support of the CRRF, while Echelon-2026 is centered on the organization of logistical and material support for the participating forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exercises are designed to improve coordination between national military contingents and the ability of CSTO forces to operate together under a unified command structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Participants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Military contingents from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are participating alongside Russian forces in the exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The participating countries are providing personnel and military equipment for the different components of the drills, covering joint command and control, reconnaissance, and logistics support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Armenia, which is also a member of the CSTO, is not taking part in the exercises. (Image Credit: Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan\/via X\/@modgovkz)<\/sup><\/em><br><br><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Part of Wider CSTO Training Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exercises in Russia are part of the CSTO\u2019s broader 2026 military training program, which includes around 60 joint activities, including eight command-and-staff and specialized exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier in September, the joint CSTO exercise Rubezh-2026 (Frontier-2026) was conducted at the &#8220;Koktal&#8221; training ground in Kazakhstan, from September 13 to 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The drill involved about 1,500 personnel from the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the CSTO\u2019s Central Asian region, mainly from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That exercise focused on operations in mountainous and desert terrain.
