Although delivered in December 2024, it was never commissioned before being sold to Romania under a government-to-government agreement signed in December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2026, Romania renamed the ship Contraamiral August Roman and entered service with the Romanian Naval Forces after being fitted with ASELSAN&#8217;s integrated combat systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The delivery of the ship in 2025 marked the first time a warship built in Turkiye was exported to a NATO and European Union member state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current project expands Turkish defense corporation ASELSAN&#8217;s role in Romania&#8217;s naval modernization while increasing the company&#8217;s presence in the European defense market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Contraamiral August Roman, bearing pennant number 261, has been equipped with an integrated package of surveillance, fire control, electro-optical, communications and navigation systems designed to improve the vessel&#8217;s operational effectiveness and combat capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Romania-Turkiye-corvette-ships.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1016\" height=\"586\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Romania-Turkiye-corvette-ships.jpg?resize=1016%2C586&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Romania's corvette CAm.
