Taiwan and the United Kingdom signed their first formal agreement on drone industry cooperation at Farnborough International Airshow, marking a major milestone in bilateral defense partnership.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) has brought together the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA) and Britain’s ADS Group, one of the country’s leading aerospace and defense industry associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement establishes a platform for cooperation in drone research and development, manufacturing, marketing and international business expansion. It also aims to encourage bilateral investment while improving the global competitiveness of both countries’ drone industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representing Taiwan, Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. (AIDC) President Chuang Hsiu-mei signed the agreement with ADS Group Chief Executive Officer Kevin Craven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEDIBOA described the agreement as the first formal exchange between the drone industries of Taiwan and the UK, creating a framework for long-term collaboration between companies and organizations from both sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Research and International Expansion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the agreement, Taiwan and the UK will cooperate on drone research, development and marketing while participating in each other’s international business expansion programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two sides will also explore new commercial and industrial partnerships aimed at strengthening their positions in the rapidly growing global drone market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership is designed to promote practical cooperation across the drone sector, including technology development, manufacturing capabilities and investment opportunities. TEDIBOA said the agreement would help create stronger industry links and expand business opportunities for companies from both countries.<\/p>\n\n\n

Manufacturing Capabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chuang said Taiwan has the potential to become a safe, reliable and highly capable manufacturing partner for the UK’s aerospace and defense industries across the Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said closer cooperation would allow both sides to build stronger industrial relationships while supporting future growth in advanced drone technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craven welcomed the agreement, saying the new exchange platform would enable Taiwan and the UK to make full use of their respective strengths in technology development and manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the partnership would help drive continued growth in the drone industry and expressed optimism about creating more international business opportunities through cooperation with TEDIBOA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Strengthening International Partnerships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADS Group represents more than 2,000 companies operating across the UK’s aerospace, defense, security and space sectors. Its subsidiary, Farnborough International, organizes the Farnborough International Airshow, one of the world’s leading aerospace and defense exhibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Taiwan, the agreement forms part of a broader strategy to expand international cooperation in the drone sector and diversify partnerships with overseas industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEDIBOA said it has established partnerships with 15 drone organizations across nine countries, reflecting its efforts to build a global network of industry partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The alliance has also been actively engaging with international organizations and companies to increase business opportunities for Taiwan’s drone industry. During the first half of the year, TEDIBOA conducted visits to Germany, the United States, the UK and Japan, holding discussions with industry representatives to explore future cooperation and commercial opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest agreement with ADS Group builds on those outreach efforts and provides a formal mechanism for continued collaboration between Taiwan and British drone companies.<\/p>\n\n\n

Expanding Drone Industry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The global drone market has expanded rapidly in recent years, driven by increasing demand for unmanned aerial systems across defense, security, infrastructure inspection, emergency response and commercial applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By creating a structured platform for cooperation, Taiwan and the UK aim to combine their strengths in advanced manufacturing, technology development and international market access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement is expected to support joint research initiatives, encourage investment and help companies from both countries pursue new opportunities in overseas markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Taiwan, the partnership also reinforces its ambition to position itself as a trusted manufacturing hub for advanced drone technologies and aerospace production in the Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials from both sides said the agreement lays the foundation for deeper industrial cooperation and could lead to additional partnerships as the two countries continue to expand collaboration in the rapidly evolving drone sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Farnborough Airshow<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Farnborough Airshow, where the MoU was signed, is one of the world’s premier aerospace and defense exhibitions, held every two years in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event brings together government officials, military leaders, defense companies and aerospace manufacturers from around the world to showcase the latest technologies, announce major contracts and strengthen international partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airshow serves as a key platform for collaboration across the aerospace, defense and space sectors, with exhibitors presenting advances in military aircraft, drones, autonomous systems, space technologies and sustainable aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also provides opportunities for governments and industry leaders to discuss future defense requirements, expand business ties and promote international cooperation, making it a significant venue for agreements such as the Taiwan-UK drone partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n
