Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the United Kingdom on July 27, 2026, for talks with newly appointed Prime Minister Andy Burnham, becoming the first foreign leader to be hosted by the British premier since he took office.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting underscored London’s continued commitment to supporting Ukraine through military assistance, defense cooperation, and diplomatic efforts aimed at ending Russia’s war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held at Portsmouth Naval Base on England’s southern coast, the visit focused on expanding defense cooperation, strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities, and reaffirming the strategic partnership between the two countries. It also came just one day before Zelenskyy was scheduled to travel to Washington for meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burnham described Zelenskyy’s visit as a deliberate signal that Britain’s support for Ukraine remains unchanged despite the transition in government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You are the first leader I have welcomed in person since taking office, and that is no accident,” Burnham said. “It is intended to send a very clear message: we are with Ukraine 100%, I am personally with you 100%, and I will honor every commitment this country has made to Ukraine in full.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking alongside Burnham, Zelenskyy said relations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom were “stronger than ever” and expressed confidence that the close partnership would continue throughout the war and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ukrainian president also acknowledged concerns about political leadership changes among Kyiv’s allies but emphasized that long-term relations between nations were more important than individual leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n

Zelenskyy said, “I hope we will never lose strong relations with the UK during or after the war.” Burnham responded simply: “You won’t.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The British prime minister also announced plans to visit Ukraine in the near future following what he described as a productive and warm meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Stone Cloak Technology for Ukraine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most significant outcomes of the visit was Britain’s decision to transfer the intellectual property behind its new Stone Cloak electronic warfare system to Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tablet-sized electronic jammer is designed to prevent drones from being detected by enemy air defenses, significantly improving their survivability during operations. Thousands of the systems have already been supplied to Ukrainian forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By sharing the technology, Britain will allow Ukraine to manufacture the system domestically on a much larger scale, increasing production capacity while reducing reliance on foreign deliveries. Burnham said the technology would help Ukrainian forces strike targets more effectively while saving lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The British government also confirmed that Stone Cloak technology will be integrated into the country’s future long-range weapons, including Project Brakestop, a program developing low-cost cruise missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, Burnham and Zelenskyy also discussed broader cooperation on joint defense production, with Zelenskyy expressing hope that Ukraine and Britain could establish a major drone manufacturing facility in the UK as part of their growing defense partnership.
