Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said the agreement was based on a mechanism of &#8220;commitment in return for commitment.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He argued that the United States had violated Article Five of the memorandum, which, according to Tehran, recognizes Iran&#8217;s role in determining arrangements for the safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The U.S. has challenged the provision and, through its unilateral actions as well as its aggressive attacks against Iran, has effectively violated the framework of the agreement,&#8221; Baqaei said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also accused Washington of violating multiple provisions of the agreement. &#8220;The era of bullying and extortion is over. It leads nowhere. We don&#8217;t fold,&#8221; he said. It&#8217;s that simple,&#8221; he added. Vance said that President Trump remained committed to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and warned that any attempt to block the waterway would trigger another American military response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Shipping Security Under Renewed Threat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest fighting has again placed global maritime trade under pressure. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported several incidents involving commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz over recent days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One tanker reported an engine-room fire after being struck by an unidentified projectile, while two additional tankers sustained damage during separate incidents but continued toward their destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qatar and Saudi Arabia each reported that one of their tankers had been attacked while operating in or near the strait. Qatar said Iran bore full responsibility for an apparent attack on the tanker Al-Rekayyat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saudi Arabia separately accused Tehran of targeting the tanker Wadyan. Brent crude oil rose more than 3% to approximately $76 per barrel, reflecting growing concerns over potential disruptions to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roughly one-fifth of global oil supplies pass through the narrow waterway, making any military escalation there a major concern for international energy markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>NATO Chief Backs US Response<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking at the NATO Summit in Ankara, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte defended the American military operation. &#8220;I think it was absolutely necessary,&#8221; Rutte said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He argued that Iran had effectively violated the ceasefire through attacks on commercial shipping and added that it was &#8220;totally crucial that the US forcefully reacts.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diplomatic efforts have largely stalled following the latest escalation.
