(Image Credit: AP\/via X)<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>He also emphasized the importance of continued international cooperation, stating that Ukraine\u2019s \u201ctop diplomatic priority\u201d is strengthening air defense capabilities as Russian strikes on cities persist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe need air defense missiles every single day, every day the Russians continue their strikes on our cities,\u201d Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite new agreements with partners such as Germany and Norway, deliveries have been slower than Kyiv had hoped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Delays and Shifting Global Priorities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement comes amid broader concerns about shifting military priorities among Western allies. The GEM-T interceptor is designed to target a wide range of threats, including tactical ballistic missiles and aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Ukraine operates around 10 Patriot batteries, with an estimated 60 launchers and hundreds of missiles in service. However, sustained attacks have rapidly depleted these stocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally supplied to Ukraine in 2023, the system has since become a cornerstone of the country\u2019s air defense network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Globally, the Patriot system is used by 19 countries and is considered one of the most reliable air defense platforms currently in operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Growing International Military Support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside the Raytheon deal, Ukraine has secured additional military support from its allies. The United Kingdom recently announced a major drone assistance package, including 120,000 units for reconnaissance, strike, and logistics purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Germany and Ukraine have also reached agreements on joint drone production, signaling a broader shift toward expanding domestic and regional defense capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, Ukraine is working to develop its own anti-ballistic missile systems, aiming to reduce long-term dependence on foreign suppliers.
