The talks were led by U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, alongside Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussions marked the first direct U.S.-Iran meeting in more than a decade and the highest-level engagement since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe bad news is that we have not reached an agreement, and I think that\u2019s bad news for Iran much more than it\u2019s bad news for the United States of America,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve made very clear what our red lines are,\u201d he added. Israel continued strikes against Iran-backed Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, stating that the operations are separate from the ceasefire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Israeli military said it targeted rocket launchers overnight, with black smoke seen rising over southern Beirut. Air raid sirens were also reported in Israeli border areas due to incoming rocket fire. It has also pushed for the right to collect transit fees from vessels passing through the strait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast, Washington\u2019s minimum objectives include ensuring free navigation through the waterway and dismantling Iran\u2019s nuclear enrichment capabilities to prevent the development of an atomic bomb. These differences have remained the central obstacle to a deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Shipping Uncertainty Despite Limited Movement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite tensions, some oil shipments have resumed. Peterson (DDG 121) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112), have already conducted initial missions in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation aims to remove mines allegedly deployed by Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and to establish a secure maritime corridor. CENTCOM commander Adm.
