Pakistan on Friday successfully test-fired the medium-range Shaheen-III surface-to-surface ballistic missile, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The missile can carry nuclear as well as conventional warheads to a range of 2,750 km, as per the local reports.<\/p>\n

The test flight of the missile was aimed at validating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). It added that the missile is capable of delivering nuclear and conventional warheads in a range of 2,750 kms.<\/p>\n

The impact point of the missile test was in the Arabian Sea, validating all desired parameters, the statement said. The test was witnessed by senior officers from Strategic Plans Division, Strategic Forces, Scientists and Engineers of Strategic Organisations.<\/p>\n

Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General\u00a0\u00a0 Mazhar Jamil, congratulated the Scientists and Engineers on achieving a significant milestone in complementing the deterrence capability. He asserted that Pakistan desires peaceful co-existence in the region for which nuclear deterrence would further strengthen strategic stability in South Asia.<\/p>\n

President and Prime Minister of Pakistan have also congratulated the\u00a0 Scientists and Engineers on successful conduct of the latest missile test<\/p>\n

The Shaheen-I and Shaheen-II missiles were test-fired in Pakistan last year.<\/p>\n

Shaheen-I can also carry nuclear as well as conventional warheads and has a range of 900km while the Shaheen-II missile is also capable of carrying the warheads up to a range of 1500 km.<\/p>\n
