Poland has signed a $300 million agreement to lease eight Boeing AH-64D Apache helicopters from the United States. This lease is intended to prepare the Polish armed forces for the eventual delivery of 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters, which were ordered in August 2024 as part of a $10 billion deal.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contract was officially signed at the 56th Aviation Base in Inowroclaw. Speaking at the ceremony, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and National Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized the importance of early training and preparation for the incoming fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kosiniak-Kamysz outlined the reasoning behind leasing the aircraft before the full order arrives, stressing that it will provide Polish pilots and ground crews with the necessary experience to operate the advanced attack helicopters efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 2028, we are awaiting the first 15 of the 96 units that we ordered last year for a considerable amount of 10 billion dollars,\u201d Kosiniak-Kamysz stated. \u201cThis is why we are leasing today, we are spending $300 million on this, so that our pilots, ground crews can get familiar with this gear, learn all the skills, take control of it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lease agreement ensures that Polish personnel have hands-on experience with the Apache helicopters well in advance of the first scheduled deliveries in 2028. The full fleet of 96 aircraft is expected to be delivered by 2032. Once the helicopters are in service, Poland will become the second-largest operator of Apache helicopters in the world, behind only the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
