{"id":26833,"date":"2025-01-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/?p=26833"},"modified":"2025-01-16T16:39:18","modified_gmt":"2025-01-16T14:39:18","slug":"abu-dhabi-shipbuilder-launches-falaj-3-class-vessel-to-strengthen-uae-naval-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/abu-dhabi-shipbuilder-launches-falaj-3-class-vessel-to-strengthen-uae-naval-force\/","title":{"rendered":"Abu Dhabi shipbuilder launches Falaj 3 class vessel to strengthen UAE naval force"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>3 minute read<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), a leading entity under the UAE\u2019s EDGE Group, launched the first of four Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) under the Falaj 3 class program during a ceremony held at the ADSB shipyard.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The launch of Falaj 3 OPV is a significant step in addressing the needs of the UAE Ministry of Defense and is part of broader efforts to strengthen the country\u2019s naval defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event, held under the patronage of Rear Admiral Pilot Staff Major General Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Commander of the UAE Naval Forces, brought together dignitaries, military officials, and senior leaders from EDGE and ADSB, which is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The launch of the Falaj 3 class vessel is seen as a pivotal step towards strengthening the UAE\u2019s national defense strategy with a fleet of advanced vessels designed to meet emerging security challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe launch of the first Falaj 3 vessel reinforces ADSB\u2019s expertise in shipbuilding and represents a major step forward in delivering cutting-edge, highly sophisticated vessels equipped with the latest mission systems and advanced armament,\u201d said ADSB CEO David Massey in the <a href=\"https:\/\/edgegroup.ae\/news\/adsb-launches-first-vessel-prestigious-falaj-3-programme\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">statement<\/mark><\/a> issued on January 14, 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis addition to ADSB\u2019s capabilities and extensive product portfolio underscores our commitment to supporting the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Defence. Key specifications include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Length Overall (LOA)<\/strong>: 60 meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Breadth (Moulded)<\/strong>: 9.5 meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Depth<\/strong>: 4.45 meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Draft (Moulded)<\/strong>: 2.6 meters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed for advanced naval operations and addressing modern asymmetric warfare challenges, the FALAJ 3 is equipped with a state-of-the-art combat management system, sensors, and weapons, enabling it to effectively operate in all three dimensions of warfare: air, surface, and sub-surface. Notable corvettes, such as the Bani Yas-class, Abu Dhabi-class, and Baynunah-class, feature advanced weapon systems, including surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship missiles, and naval guns.
