A non-explosive round was fired approximately 10 kilometers into the North Sea, marking a pivotal moment in the integration of this advanced system into Denmark’s military arsenal.

The Danish military, in a press release, highlighted the extensive efforts by the Elbit Systems and technicians from the Danish Ministry of Defense’s Material and Procurement Agency, which have been ongoing since the first batch of PULS platforms arrived about a year ago.

Brigadier General Henrik Lyhne expressed his satisfaction with the new system, stating, “I am quite impressed. The system works as intended, and the sound is fantastic.” He emphasized the system’s significant impact on the Danish Army, noting, “We have missed a system like this in the Army. It gives us enormous firepower and significantly increased range. And after all, it is an ultra-flexible system that can launch several different missile types.”

The PULS system can launch a variety of guided and unguided missiles and rockets, with ranges spanning from 12 to 300 kilometers. This flexibility allows the system to be tailored to a wide range of operational scenarios, enhancing the Danish Army’s ability to respond to diverse threats.

Replacing Caesar howitzer

Denmark’s decision to adopt the PULS system followed the donation of its entire fleet of 19 French Caesar howitzers to Ukraine. In March, Copenhagen placed an order for two PULS batteries and a battalion of ATMOS truck-mounted 155mm howitzers for a combined cost of $252 million. $133 million for the PULS systems and $119 million for the ATMOS howitzers. The PULS platform is expected to be fully operational by 2026.

Features and specifications

The PULS rocket launcher system, developed by Israel’s Elbit Systems, offers several advanced features that make it a formidable asset for modern military operations:

Versatile capability: The PULS system can launch a broad spectrum of rockets and missiles, both guided and unguided.
