{"id":2044,"date":"2015-04-25T10:01:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-25T10:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5917.temp.domains\/~iriacom\/\/news\/?p=2044"},"modified":"2015-04-25T10:01:00","modified_gmt":"2015-04-25T10:01:00","slug":"over-2000-boko-haram-militants-attack-town-in-nigeria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/over-2000-boko-haram-militants-attack-town-in-nigeria\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 2,000 Boko Haram militants attack town in Nigeria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Suspected Boko Haram militants have stormed a town in Nigeria\u2019s northeastern Borno State, forcing hundreds of army troops to flee the restive area.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Local sources said more than 2,000 armed terrorists entered Marte on Thursday and continued to fight with Nigerian government forces into Friday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The militants went on a shooting spree and killed several people, according to the sources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Imamu Habeeb, a local community leader, said the terrorists \u201cappeared from various directions on Thursday,\u201d adding, &#8220;They fought with soldiers over the night and the fight continued today (Friday), forcing hundreds of soldiers to flee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shehu Dan Baiwa, a local fighter also noted that the militants, who were armed with bombs and tanks, \u201cused the weapons without restraint and succeeded in killing several people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, a senior local politician, who was speaking on condition of anonymity, said Boko Haram had retaken Marte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If confirmed officially, it would be Boko Haram&#8217;s third seizure\u00a0of the town in the troubled Borno State.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 565px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/217.218.67.233\/\/photo\/20150425\/59ab6a59-0682-401a-9c0d-1d5bf62fd3bb.jpg?resize=555%2C313\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"313\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Civilians, who have fled the fighting in Nigeria&#8217;s\u00a0northeast town of Bama and the surrounding areas, walk at a makeshift camp for displaced people on the outskirts of the city of Maiduguri, March 25, 2015. \u00a9 AFP<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Back in February, four nations of the Lake Chad Basin &#8211;
