The latest package consists of additional air defense missiles, armored vehicles, anti-aircraft and anti-armor rockets, and small surveillance drones.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The military package is the 43rd security assistance package approved by the United States for Ukraine. Kyiv has received <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/u-s-security-cooperation-with-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">more than $43 billion<\/span><\/a> in the form of military aid from the U.S. since Russia\u2019s invasion in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new $400 million package comes at a time when Ukrainian forces are pushing forwards in their slow-moving counteroffensive against Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Black Hornets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time, the U.S. has also pledged to provide Black Hornet surveillance drones to Ukraine. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flir.com\/products\/black-hornet-prs\/?vertical=uas-norway&amp;segment=uis\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Black Hornets<\/span><\/a> are nano-drones made by\u00a0Teledyne FLIR Technologies. Tiny drones are 10 centimeters in length and only 2.5 centimeters in width, weighing no more than 16 grams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a total flight time of 25 minutes and a range of one kilometer, these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/tag\/drone\/\"><span style=\"color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">drones<\/span><\/a> are primarily used for intelligence gathering and surveillance.\u00a0Ukrainian has previously received and used similar nano drones from the other Western allies.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Black-Hornet-nano-drone.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Black-Hornet-nano-drone.jpg?resize=840%2C536&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16811\" width=\"840\" height=\"536\"\/><\/a><figcaption><em><sup>UK forces using Black Hornet nano drone. (Image Credit: Daniel Wiepen\/MOD)<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the military package includes munition for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/tag\/patriot\/\"><span style=\"color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Patriot air defense system<\/span><\/a>, National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/tag\/nasams\/\"><span style=\"color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">NASAMS<\/span><\/a>), and Stinger anti-aircraft systems. The package would also provide additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/tag\/himars\/\"><span style=\"color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">HIMARS<\/span><\/a>), 32 Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers, Hydra-70 missiles, mortars, and millions of rounds of small arms ammunition and grenades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The military aid package has been approved under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), which allows a speedy provision of weapons to Ukraine, sometimes arriving within days after the announcement. The PDA allows the U.S. Department of Defense to dispatch materials and defense equipment from the U.S. excess inventory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>The latest military package includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Additional munitions for Patriot air defense systems and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS)<\/li><li>Stinger anti-aircraft systems<\/li><li>Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS)<\/li><li>155mm and 105mm artillery rounds<\/li><li>120mm and 60mm mortar rounds<\/li><li>32 Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers<\/li><li>Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) missiles<\/li><li>Javelin and other anti-armor systems and rockets<\/li><li>Hornet Unmanned Aerial Systems<\/li><li>Hydra-70 aircraft rockets<\/li><li>Tactical air navigation systems<\/li><li>Demolitions munitions for obstacle clearing<\/li><li>Over 28 million rounds of small arms ammunition and grenades<\/li><li>Night vision devices and thermal imagery systems<\/li><li>Spare parts, training munitions, and other field equipment.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br>US ramps up support for Ukraine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Washington has paced up its support for Kyiv following Russia\u2019s withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative. (Image Credit: Raytheon)<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>While commenting on the U.S.\u2019s latest military aid for Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaffirmed Washington\u2019s support for Ukraine. Blinken said that &#8220;Russia could end this war at any time by withdrawing its forces from Ukraine and stopping its brutal attacks against Ukraine&#8217;s cities and people. Until it does, the United States and our allies and partners will stand united with Ukraine, for as long as it takes.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russia responded to the U.S.\u2019s increasing military aid toward Ukraine.
