Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida arrived in the United Arab Emirates on July 17, 2023, after completing his trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Kishida is focusing on developing stronger economic ties during his three-day trip to the Gulf countries. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida met with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. The bilateral meeting between the two leaders took place at Qasr Al Watan, following an official reception ceremony to mark the start of Prime Minister Kishida\u2019s official visit to the UAE<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UAE President welcomed the Prime Minister of Japan<\/span><\/a>, expressing his confidence that the visit would consolidate the robust and longstanding partnership between the two nations and support their shared vision for a sustainable and prosperous future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During their bilateral meeting, the two leaders agreed to cooperate on technology and climate change, reaffirming their commitment to \u201cenhancing cooperation on climate ambition, decarbonization, and clean energy.\u201d UAE is set to host the COP28 UN Climate Change Summit in Dubai later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan and UAE also agreed to set up a framework to discuss possible UAE investments in semiconductor and battery plants in Japan. Kishida and UAE President Al-Nahyan agreed to enhance partnerships in medicine and space and move forward with technical cooperation on producing green fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Kishida\u2019s trip to Jeddah<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Japanese Prime Minister kicked off his Middle East trip in Saudi Arabia<\/span><\/a> where he arrived on July 16, 2023, and met with Saudi Arabia\u2019s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The bilateral meeting focused on strengthening energy cooperation and developing strong economic ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that there are 110 Japanese companies operating in Saudi Arabia, and these companies will expand their projects in the Kingdom. He also emphasized that Japan will cooperate with Saudi Arabia in the field of semiconductors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
