French security officials have reportedly warned of more terrorist attacks by ISIS-linked elements in the country, saying terrorist threats have climbed to \u201ca level without precedent\u201d<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cNot one day goes by without an alert, the discovery of a network trying to send people to Syria or Iraq, or an intervention (by the security services),\u201d a high-level official of France\u2019s defense ministry told\u00a0AFP on condition of anonymity on Monday.<\/p>\n

French counter-terrorism authorities further described the threat as \u201cpermanent.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the moment, there are nearly 4,000 elements \u201cidentified or suspected of evil intentions\u201d\u00a0in France, who include highly-educated individuals described as \u201cpros, not drop-outs\u201d.<\/p>\n

The report further cited \u201canother unnamed counter-terrorist official\u201d as stating that the biggest source of France’s concerns is the 200\u00a0 former Takfiris who have returned to the country after engaging in foreign-backed military operations against the governments of Iraq and Syria.<\/p>\n

Those individuals, he explained, are particularly dangerous as\u00a0\u201cthey have lost all inhibitions about violence.”<\/p>\n

He further emphasized that French security services are forced to\u00a0\u201cplay catch-up\u201d\u00a0with the terrorists since they\u00a0\u201cuse the best encryption and concealment techniques.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Every time we get our hands on a network, we see they are each using seven or eight SIM cards, changing them constantly. And the most cunning don’t go near phones at all – they use messengers,”\u00a0<\/strong>he added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, there were\u00a0fears that competition between various terror groups may lead to further violence across France.<\/p>\n

“Al-Qaeda needs to restore its prestige and will try to compete with IS with complex and major actions,\u201d added the official, pointing to major concerns that an al-Qaeda wing, known as Khorasan, was allegedly\u00a0planning an attack on a major airline.<\/p>\n

ISIL \u201cis in the process of training commandos and sending them to our territory with high-quality equipment,” the source sad.<\/p>\n
