The first 12 jets are expected to be delivered next year and a further 36 aircraft in the years 2025 to 2028.&nbsp;The two contracts were signed at Mi\u0144sk Mazowiecki airbase near Warsaw on September 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Polish President Andrzej Duda said,&nbsp;\u201cthe implementation of the program to introduce the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/tag\/fa-50\/\"><span style=\"color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">FA-50 aircraft<\/span><\/a> to the Polish military will allow us to fully resign from using the [Soviet-designed] MiG-29 and Su-22 aircraft\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Korea&#8217;s sole aircraft maker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.koreaaero.com\/EN\/Business\/FA50.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#ac0707\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Korea Aerospace Industries<\/span><\/a> (KAI) inked the executive contract with Warsaw&#8217;s Armament Agency as a follow-up to the framework contract signed in July to supply the fighters to the European country, according to the country&#8217;s Defense Acquisition Program Administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FA-50-Golden-Eagle-Jet.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FA-50-Golden-Eagle-Jet.jpg?resize=825%2C442&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9507\" width=\"825\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FA-50-Golden-Eagle-Jet.jpg?w=690&amp;ssl=1 690w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ir-ia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FA-50-Golden-Eagle-Jet.jpg?resize=300%2C161&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px\" \/><\/a><figcaption><em><sup>FA-50 Fighting Eagle Jet during a test flight. It is a light combat version of the T-50 Golden Eagle supersonic advanced jet trainer and light attack aircraft. The FA-50 is the first fighter-class military aircraft to be certified by Korean Military Aircraft Airworthiness Committee (MAAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FA-50 specifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Maximum Speed:&nbsp;<\/strong>Mach 1.5 (1,837.5km\/h)<\/li><li><strong>Maximum Take-off Weight<\/strong>:&nbsp;26,929 lbs<\/li><li><strong>Engine Power:<\/strong>&nbsp;17,700-pound-thrust&nbsp;General Electric F404&nbsp;engine<\/li><li><strong>Weapons:<\/strong> 20mm Three-Barreled Gun, AIM-9 air-to-air missile, Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM)<\/li><li><strong>Passengers: <\/strong>2<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The FA-50 aircraft contract is part of a $13.7 billion (65-billion zloty) arms deal the two countries reached earlier this year. Last month, Warsaw purchased a massive quantity of South Korean military equipment, including 1,000 K2 tanks and 600 K9 self-propelled howitzers from South Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FA-50s would replace Poland&#8217;s fleet of MiG-29 aircraft, technology dating back to the Soviet era. \u201cOld aircraft will be replaced by modern FA-50 aircraft &#8211; this will be a generational leap. The FA-50 is of the same generation as the F-16, which will significantly strengthen the Polish Air Force,\u201d Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said at a press conference held in Minsk-Mazowiecki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Deputy Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mblaszczak?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@mblaszczak<\/a> approved the framework agreement with the Republic of Korea \ud83c\uddf0\ud83c\uddf7 to purchase 48 FA-50 fighters for the Polish Armed Forces \ud83c\uddf5\ud83c\uddf1.
