The Venezuelan government \u201ccategorically rejected\u201d on\u00a0Sunday the mention of Venezuela in the 2015 National Security Strategy document, released by the White House earlier this week.<\/p>\n
In a statement released by the Ministry of Communication, the Bolivarian government of Venezuela qualified the mention of Venezuela in the document as \u201cunacceptable interference in the internal affairs\u201d of the country and as threat to peace.<\/p>\n
The 2015 National Security Strategy mentions Venezuela on its penultimate page, alleging that \u201cfull exercise of democracy is at risk\u201d in the Andean nation. The document also appears to claim that the government of Venezuela is \u201ctrapped in old ideological debates.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the statement issued by the Bolivarian government of Venezuela, they return that criticism and accuse the U.S. government of being stuck in a \u201cCold War\u201d mentality and \u201cignorant about (the) new realities\u201d in the region.<\/p>\n
Regional blocs such as Community of Latin American and Caribbean States have unanimously rejected U.S. interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela. While the Union of South American Nations is currently investigating allegations that the U.S. is attempting to destabilize the country.<\/p>\n
The United States has been conducting an increasingly aggressive campaign against the democratically-elected socialist government of Venezuela. This campaign, according to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, is being directed by U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n
The U.S. also recently imposed unilateral sanctions on Venezuela.<\/p>\n
The Venezuelan government called on the U.S. to respect the Venezuelan constitutional system, which has been witness to 19 electoral processes in 16 years.<\/p>\n
