<em>November 22, 2021<\/em><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indian Navy received the first of its four indigenously developed Visakhapatnam-class vessels on November 21.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first INS Visakhapatnam is also known as P-15B or P-15 Bravo-Class Destroyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P-15B is a guided-missile destroyer built by Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL), a Mumbai-based Indian shipbuilder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian Navy and MDL signed a contract in January 2011 to build four Project 15B warships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the Indian Ministry of Defence stated that Project 15B features indigenous content of nearly 75 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The destroyer has a speed of 30 knots (56 km\/h), 7,400 MMS with an average speed of 14 knots, and an endurance of 45 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vessel\u2019s detachable include, rail-less Helicopter Hanger for two Medium-Sized Helicopters and four RIHB Rigid Inflatable Boats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The destroyer\u2019s length is 164 meters, 17.4 meters beam, 6.5 meters draft, with a displacement capacity of 74,000 tonnes, and can carry a crew of 300 (including 50 officers + 250 sailors.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Weapons:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>OTO Melara 76mm naval gun<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>BAE Manufactured Mk 45, 127mm naval gun<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>AK-630M systems on the front and rear of the ship<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>32&nbsp;Barak-8ER&nbsp;SAM&nbsp;(LR-SAM)<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>8-cell&nbsp;Vertical Launching System (VLS)&nbsp;<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>8 BrahMos&nbsp;Anti-Ship Missiles<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>Twin Torpedo Launchers for Varunastra heavyweight-torpedo<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>RBU-6000 Anti-Submarine Rocket Launchers<strong><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Sensors and Radars:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>IAI&nbsp;EL\/M-2248 MF-STAR&nbsp;S-Band AESA&nbsp;Radar for Surface Targets <strong><\/strong><\/li><li>Thales LW-08 D-Band&nbsp;Air Search Radar for Arial Targets <strong><\/strong><\/li><li>BEL HUMSA-NG&nbsp;Bow Sonar <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><li>BEL Nagin&nbsp;Active Towed-Array Sonar<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>Kavach Anti-Missile Decoy Systems<strong><\/strong><\/li><li>NSTL Maareech&nbsp;Torpedo-Countermeasure&nbsp;Systems<strong><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Propulsion System:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2 Russian built Zoya M36E Gas Turbine <\/li><li>4 DT-59 reversible Gas Turbines <\/li><li>2 Bergen GRSE KVM-Diesel Engines (9,900hps each) <\/li><li>Wartsila WCM-1000 Engine Generators.<br><br><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IRIA Staff &#8211;
